Dear Editor,

I am writing to express my outrage at your depiction of the Serbian people in your cartoon in the Saturday Sun of June 19/99. Whether that cartoon, which depicts Serbs collectively as a dog, is a product of a sick mind or a deliberate editorial policy to demonize and damage all Serbs, will be determined by appropriate institutions in this country. Whatever the reason may be, your racist hatred and chauvinist policy towards the Serbian people is a well established policy. It is a shame that the Toronto Sun uses freedom of the press as a licence to promote hate propaganda and upset ethnic harmony of Canada. If the dog analogy applies to anyone, it is certainly the media that deserves that honour, for it practices a doglike obedience for its American imperialist master and bites all those the master intends to shoot or bomb.

I recall seeing a German Nazi propaganda movie where orthodox Jews were compared to sewer rats and in a repetitive fashion the images of rats and Jews were used in a prolonged and alternating manner in order to dehumanize the Jews and provide social atmosphere for their extermination. I do not only see parallels in contemporary western media with such Nazi methods of persecution, but I have seen that a good portion of Canadian population thinks that the Serbs deserve the NATO holocaust that they have received. The Canadian education system, being what it is, is not the source of that hatred but rather the tireless efforts of the media to deliver the Serbian people to the NATO butchers and make it look like justice. We are repeatedly being told that Albanian atrocities, plundering and burning of Serb homes under NATO regime in Kosovo is "understandable", while Serbian police action against Albanian terrorists is subject to the War Crimes Tribunal in Hague. According to media logic, Serbs are guilty even when they defend themselves from foreign armed terrorists and mercenaries. Such treatment of Serbs in the media confers a degree of amateurism on Joseph Goebbels and a swastika on your editorial laurels. You ought to go back and read George Orwell again! Shame on you!
